About this test

Requested after an unprovoked clot, a clot at a young age, a strong family history, or recurrent miscarriage. The natural anticoagulants are measured together with the antiphospholipid antibodies, because a positive changes how long anticoagulation continues.

What it measures

  • Protein C and protein S
  • Antithrombin III
  • Lupus anticoagulant and antiphospholipid antibodies

A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
