About this test
CA 125 is raised in most advanced ovarian cancers, but also in endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic infection, pregnancy and even menstruation, which is why it is interpreted next to an ultrasound rather than on its own. It is most reliable as a monitoring test after a diagnosis has been made.
What it measures
- Serum CA 125
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
