About this test
The point of a Pap smear is to find changes years before they could become cancer, when treating them is straightforward. Cervical cancer is among the most preventable cancers there is, and screening is what prevents it. Taken by a female staff member at the centre.
What it measures
- Adequacy of the sample
- Squamous and glandular cell abnormalities
- Infection or inflammatory changes
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
