About this test
T-SPOT counts the individual T cells that react to TB antigens rather than measuring interferon in bulk, which makes it more reliable where the immune system is suppressed — in HIV, on immunosuppressants, or in young children. The sample must reach the laboratory quickly.
What it measures
- Number of TB-antigen-responsive T cells
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
