About this test
The thyroid sets the pace of your metabolism. When it runs slow you may feel tired, cold, low and gain weight; when it runs fast you may feel anxious, hot, shaky and lose weight. This profile measures the pituitary signal (TSH) alongside the two thyroid hormones it controls, which together show both whether there is a problem and where it sits.
