About this test
A narrowed coronary artery can supply the heart adequately at rest and fail under load, which is why a resting ECG is often normal in angina. Exercise raises demand until the shortfall appears. The test is supervised throughout and stopped on symptoms or ECG changes.
What it measures
- ST-segment changes during exercise and recovery
- Blood pressure and heart rate response
- Exercise capacity and symptoms
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
