About this test
A quick, low-dose scan of the hip and lower spine, reported as a T-score against peak adult bone mass. It is recommended for postmenopausal women, anyone on long-term steroids, and after a fracture from a minor fall — and it is what treatment decisions are based on.
What it measures
- Bone mineral density at hip and lumbar spine
- T-score and Z-score
- Fracture risk assessment
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
