About this test
In adults with nephrotic syndrome, a positive anti-PLA2R is specific enough for primary membranous nephropathy that it can spare the patient a biopsy. The level also falls with successful treatment, so it doubles as a monitoring test.
What it measures
- Anti-phospholipase A2 receptor antibody
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
