About this test
The platelet count can be entirely normal while the platelets themselves do not work. Aggregation studies expose the sample to a series of agonists and measure the response, identifying inherited platelet function disorders and von Willebrand disease. The sample must be tested within hours, so it is drawn at the centre.
What it measures
- Response to ADP, collagen, adrenaline and ristocetin
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
