About this test
By taking very thin slices, HRCT resolves the fine architecture of lung tissue that a standard CT blurs. It is the test for interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis and bronchiectasis, and often shows a pattern specific enough to name the disease.
What it measures
- Interstitial changes, fibrosis and honeycombing
- Bronchial wall thickening and bronchiectasis
- Ground-glass opacity and nodules
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
