About this test
Separates bacterial vaginosis, thrush and trichomonas from one another, which matters because each needs a different treatment. It is also taken in pregnancy where infection could affect the outcome. Collected by a female staff member at the centre.
What it measures
- Microscopy for clue cells, yeast and trichomonas
- Bacterial culture and sensitivity
- Group B streptococcus where requested
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
