About this test
Antibiotics can clear the normal gut flora and let Clostridioides difficile overgrow, producing toxins that inflame the colon. The illness ranges from troublesome diarrhoea to something dangerous, and it needs a specific treatment rather than the antibiotic being continued.
What it measures
- C. difficile toxin A and B
- GDH antigen
A note on results. A single test is one part of a clinical picture, not a diagnosis. Discuss your report with a qualified doctor, who will read it alongside your history and examination.
